Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most diverse conservation area covering less than 2000 Sq-Km and the second most visited National Park. The Park was initially named Kazinga National Park in 1952, but was renamed two years later to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II. The Park enjoys a fabulous setting on the rift valley floor hence being surrounded by lakes, escarpments and the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountain which happens to be in the backdrop. The Park has a variety of habitants which include; sprawling savanna grasslands, acacia woodlands, shady forests, lush wetlands and sparkling lakes that sustain a wide range of wildlife. These varied habitants support a wealth of wildlife with about 95 mammal species including tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector and over 600 Bird Species.
